To trim or not to trim?

We’ve received a lot of inquiries about shearing the komondor, so now I want to make a few things clear.
The current "fur fashion" of the komondor, which prefers long hair reaching to the ground, is one of the XX. century result of silly! The komondor's fur has never been like this! The quality of the fur itself was not like that, this character is the result of specialized "breeding". If we think about the history of the breed, this period is a very small slice of the komondor’s 1000-year history, but unfortunately it has undoubtedly become a much more expected trait than, say, the ability to work or even a good nervous system!

The dumbest misconceptions about komondor fur;
Myth 1 "It heats in winter, it cools in summer" (Hair reduces heat dissipation, which is beneficial in winter but a big disadvantage in summer. the thermal imager does not detect the temperature, but the infrared rays (heat radiation) .This is called thermography!)
Not by the way, the shepherd himself cut the komondor's fur every year, together with the flock in the spring!
Myth 2 " The long fur protected him from the wolves and bears"
At most it could have dampened the force of the bite, but its disadvantage is much greater, as it restricts the dog in movement, and not incidentally, in the case of, say, a bear, it catches it more easily and once it is caught, it pulls himself it over and the dog is over.
Myth 3 "Hair should not be cut in front of your eyes because he'll blind"
This is also a silly and very harmful misconception! The hair in front of your eyes should always be removed. Not only because it interferes with vision, but also because the fur irritate the eyes, which can lead to continuous eye inflammation and then visual impairment!
4. While this is not a misconception, it is an important part of komondor fur care; removing the ear hair!
The fur itself also grows in the ear canals themselves, which must be removed regularly, both so as to disturb your hearing and not to cause continuous ear inflammation, which can have the direct consequence of even hearing loss!
Myth 5 ; The willingness of a komondor to shear does not depend on the character of the komondor, but on the managerial status of the farmer!
